Murphy doors or “hidden doors” can be integrated into a cabinet system to make them less conspicuous. The manufacturing and installation process of these units requires a high carpentry skill level. Bret’s designs and builds murphy doors for pantries, panic rooms, safe rooms, bookcases and kids’ playrooms.
The ability to work remotely is now a reality for many people. Bret’s Carpentry designs and creates professional home offices that allow for efficient work space flow. We can incorporate file drawers, shelving and computer/printer wire management. Our cabinets can be stained or painted and are custom built in our local shop.
Custom handrails provide character and charm to a staircase. Bret’s Carpentry offers a wide variety of hardwood choices that can be stained to match any cabinetry, or floor color. We provide onsite consultation so that our customers can better visualize not only handrail styles, but the myriad of spindles and balusters available to them, as well.
Bret’s Carpentry employs several field crews comprised of trim carpenters. Working mostly for builders in this capacity, we manufacture and install window and door casings, baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, chair rails and more. These teams of professional carpenters have specific expertise in trim work.
Locker systems are the perfect way to keep busy families and their “stuff” organized. Also referred to as mud lockers, these systems are individualized to meet the homeowner’s specific needs. From cubbies to cork boards, hooks, chalk boards, drop zones and mail slots, the choices are seemingly endless. These customized wood systems can be stained or painted.
Accenting a ceiling with custom carpentry beams sets a room apart. Choose from basic ceiling beams, to faux trusses, to complete coffered beams. We design, build and install reclaimed wood beams, as well as stained units in a variety of wood species. They vary from basic wood, to the ornate detail that crown molding adds to a coffered ceiling.
Custom built bars create a centerpiece in any living area, particularly in a basement. Typically these units are stained and often integrate appliances such as icemakers, sinks, and refrigerators into them. Finishing options include bar rails, drink ledges, foot rests and moisture resistant protective coatings. Built in cabinetry including shelving and wine racks can complete the look of our commercial strength, built to last bars.
Family rooms, basements and living rooms are the perfect places for built in entertainment centers. Designed as stand alone units, or incorporated with fireplaces, these entertainment centers include many lighting and shelving options. They can be built to hide tv components or with false backs for television mounting. Cabinetry can be stained, or painted in a variety of door styles.
A custom made mantel adds warmth to any ordinary fireplace. A wide variety of styles including floating and mantel surrounds are available. Finish options include paint and stain, as well as distressed and rough sawn. Reclaimed wood, reclaimed barn siding or structural beams can be designed and made into mantels, to provide a unique look.
The quality of your home cabinets determines their lifespan, their durability and the overall finished look of the rooms they are in. Bret’s Carpentry designs and builds all cabinets in house, with raw materials. We do not use any prefabbed materials. This process allows us to use ¾” plywood, with a pocket screwed construction on the face of our doors. Our drawer boxes have undermounted, soft close slides, with dovetail construction. Customers can select 5 piece doors in a wide variety of styles, with each detail customized to their preference. Choices include glass panels, and wire mesh panels, along with more traditional, stained or painted panels. Our cabinets are finished with a protective spray or lacquered stain (depending on the finish type). Extra durable, moisture resistant finishes are used in areas such as bars, sinks and laundry rooms.
